Assessment of the Extent of Utilization of Digital Internet Smart Board Competencies by Lecturers for Effective Instructional Service Delivery in Office Technology and Management

Abstract

The study was aimed at assessing the extent of utilization of digital internet smart board and competencies by lecturers for effective instructional service delivery in Office Technology and Management programme in Delta State. Two research questions and two hypotheses were used for the study. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 57 lecturers in Delta State Polytechnics and Southern Delta University, Ozoro . An 18 items checklist indicating the various digital facilities in internet network and smart board was designed by the researcher and used for data collection. Two experts validated the instrument. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha method which yielded correlation co-efficient of 0.78. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The study revealed that Office Technology and Management lecturers were competent in the use of internet network and smart board for instructional delivery. It was recommended among others that lecturers should embark on seminar and other related training to enhance their competencies on the utilization of internet and smart board facilities for effective instructional delivery service.
