Modern application development demands speed, scalability and reliability across diverse computing environments. Traditional deployment approaches often suffer from environment inconsistencies, complex dependency management, and inefficient resource utilization. Containerization has emerged as a powerful solution to these challenges by packaging applications and their dependencies into lightweight portable containers. Docker, the most widely adopted containerization platform, has revolutionized how applications are developed, tested, and deployed. This paper explores the concept of containerization, the architecture and components of Docker, its role in application development, advantages, use cases, challenges, and future trends. The paper concludes by highlighting Docker’s significance in modern Development and cloud-native ecosystems.
